 Saint
Petersburg, Russia, is a city of waterways and bridges earning it the
nickname “Venice of the North”. The city is built on 44 islands in the
delta of the Neva River. Saint Petersburg is the gateway to Europe and
one of the most western cities in Russia. It is a cultural centre for
music and the arts and home to the Hermitage Art Museum and many other
museums. Several universities and conservatories located here draw
students from all over the world.
